MO Champions Race
What is it?
An easy-to-understand, simple-to-follow annual race from season start to season
end. Every student starts at zero at the beginning of the year and the student
who accumulates the most points by season's end is the Slovak Number 1.
How does it work?
Every student, regardless of his performances in the previous year, starts with
zero points. Students count their performances in the year. There are 10
competitions count in this Race, namely (chronologically, with starting year in
parentheses)
- KMS, winter series, category β (2003),
- MO category A, regional round (after coordination) (2005),
- MO category A, national round (1993),
- IMO-team selection round (1996),
- KMS, summer series, category β (2003),
- KMS, category γ (2004),
- IMO training, home series (2006),
- Czech-Polish-Slovak Match (1995),
- IMO (1993).
- MEMO (2007).
Only slovak students results are regarding. In every competition, first 6
students obtain an amount of points (namely 192·(7-i) pts. for
the student on the i-th position). If there are more students sharing
the same standings, they also share total amount of points assigned to these
standings. (See the tables below for every competition.)
MO Entry Ranking
MO Champions Race, while indicating the hottest students in the game at any
stage, does not necessarily indicate an overall standing in the game. This is
especially valid at the start of the year when early competitions winners may
well be leading the Race but are not yet established top students. Thus, there
is MO Entry Ranking, counting the same points, considering all competitions
performed previous 12 months (not only actual year competitions). When any of 10
listed competitions is finished, one year old points are replaced by new
results in this Ranking. When all 10 competitions in the year are finished
(after MEMO on September), both tables (MO Entry Ranking and MO Champions Race) are
equal. So only MO Champions Race remains in archives. (While counting previous
year results in the MO Entry Ranking, there are also off-school students in the
table.)
KMS Home Race, IMO-team Race
Since there are two types of competitions, there are also two sub-races. First
of them, KMS Home Race, is composed of points obtained in "home" competitions,
i.e. competitions with no time-limit for solving (of course there is also a
"time-limit", but this counts in days or weeks, not in hours). Every student
can attend these competitions, there is no pre-requisite round or something
like that. So KMS Home Race is public Race to anyone. It consists of
4 competitions among 10 listed above - three KMS competitions and IMO training.
The second one is IMO-team Race and it has its name because of six slovak IMO
contestants attending all of 5 competitions counting in this Race (regional
and national round in MO, IMO-team selection round, CPS-Match and IMO). There
are also non-IMO contestants in the Race, while they where in the first six
in one of the MO round or selection round.
